Luckily, on Friday I was able to join common cathedral‘s street-outreach team. Carrying essential stuff people might need, which included hand warmers, socks, and sandwiches, we walked over to the Boston Public Library and Prudential Center. We had short conversations with people and checked if we could help them with anything.
I really appreciate having the chance (and privilege) to be a giver and send my love to others. I realize that having passion, kindness, and heat is one thing, but having a chance to give love with passion and kindness is another. I see from a new perspective the city’s high buildings with its busy atmosphere and people walking by. I’ve become a different person. Now a giver of care for people in the city, I not only walk toward some destination with a reason but also with an intention, which is to bring love and care. Giving lets me see this city anew and adds value to showing up.
Let me post this painting I made in 2016 to share the love, care, and beauty of giving with everyone. You are important to me; you are beloved. –Wanyi Huang
