Legacy Fund
Our Legacy Fund is used to address capital-improvement needs of our building and grounds, including our garden. Established in 2015 with an anonymous gift to encourage planned giving among parishioners, it has funded many projects including carpeting our stairs, repairing our elevator, and many others. Undesignated bequests to Emmanuel Church are routed to the Legacy Fund. We regard our building as a major asset in our mission and a major component underlying our outreach programs. In a typical week, Emmanuel Church provides sanctuary and hospitality for as many as fifteen-hundred people. Memorial gifts towards the Legacy Fund ensure that we can keep our doors open for mission and outreach.
Taylor Fund
Established in 2021 by the late Ann Taylor Roosevelt in memory of her father, The Very Rev. Dr. Charles Lincoln Taylor, The Taylor Fund is to be used to support education and training for lay and ordained people of Emmanuel Church, to assist their journey into a deeper and stronger commitment to Christian life and vocation. Dr. Taylor was a theologian and Episcopal priest, who served for 31 years on the faculty and 12 years as Dean of The Episcopal Theological School in Cambridge (later known as The Episcopal Divinity School). A scholar of Hebrew, Aramaic, Greek, and Latin and the First (or Old) Testament, he especially loved the Book of Psalms. Disbursements of the fund are at the discretion of Emmanuel Church’s rector. The donor intends ‘education and training’ to be interpreted expansively and liberally, reflecting Dr. Taylor’s interest in travel, languages, the Hebrew Scriptures, the Episcopal Church, and ecumenical education.
Garden Fund
More than a decade ago, in memory of vestry member Frank Rose, his widow Barbara and our vestry established this fund to support our garden. Funds given to this fund support the restoration and maintenance of our green space on Newbury Street. In recent years, the maintenance of our garden has become part of our regular yearly budget, but gifts to the Garden Fund allow for expansion and rejuvenation of our wonderful space of quiet respite. See here for more information about our Garden.
Flower Fund
The Flower Fund was established to support altar flowers at services throughout the year and especially for Christmas and Easter. Christmas and Easter appeals replenish this fund, but designated donations are always welcome.
Organ Fund
Established after a gift from the parents of the late Parish Administrator and Organist Christopher Roos.
